1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Nf3 e6 5.Bg5 { the Bg5 lines are the sharpest, the nf6 move order was how I originally played, and I would answer with the famous } 5...dxc4 { botvinnik variation, the most complex and sharp opening in chess, mainline is as follows: } 6.e4 { attacking the c4 pawn } 6...b5 7.e5 { knight is pinned } 7...h6 8.Bh4 g5 9.Nxg5 { !! } 9...hxg5 10.Bxg5 Nbd7 11.exf6 { and suddenly black is the gambiteer a pawn down, this leads to some crazy positions would I enjoy. } 11...Bb7 { As you can see black has a large pawn majority on the queenside while the same is true for white on the kingside, this usually turns into a frantic struggle where material is sacrificed to promote pawns, a sample mainline is as follows: } 12.g3 c5 { hitting h1 } 13.d5 Qb6 14.Bg2 b4 15.Rb1 { !! taking the knight leads to a huge white attack, given +5 by the computer (a whole rooks worth!) } 15...Qa6 16.O-O O-O-O 17.dxe6 Bxg2 18.e7 { this should show you the crazy positions arising }
