I think at the point of the game where you have two rooks and they only have a king, maybe they should be resigning :P

More seriously, there are a lot of ways of solving this. In the original problem solution, while it was not mos efficient, it did help people remember that a king can catch up to a rook, even while being checked, and that you have to be a little bit careful.

Actually there are only two correct moves for shortest win in this position, in both variations white mates in 4 moves, starting with move Rh4 or Ra4. Diagram shows Rh4 variation. You can work out Ra4 variation yourself as exercise.

This is a slightly quicker variation. Mate in 5 moves

Howdy peterpogi!

As is quite the case in these types of positions, there are usually many ways to win.  your varitation is a winning line, however, it is not the most efficient.  It is best technique in major piece endgames (R and or Q) to cut off the enemy king as soon as possible.  Therefore, 1. Ra4 would be a more natural continuation.

why 4. Ra5?  it seems like 4. Ra4 leads to a slightly (one move) quicker mate.
