Here is a game from the current 2008 Corus Group B event, GM Short - GM L'Ami with full annotations and commentary:

This game is a good example of creative opening play and imagination in chess. It shows that you do not always have to play a Ruy Lopez, Sicilian, or Slav opening (which we see all of the time) to have success. Sometimes an opening surprise to catch your opponent off guard can also bring you success!

    Thorn, not 5.Rd8 but 5.Rxg7 and for example 5...Kd6  6.Ke5 Rxc7  7.Rxc7 Kxc7 8.Kxf5 with easy win for white.

I was looking at that, too, Thorn, but as others have said, Ke6 allows Rxg7, and white still has it easy. Against opponents around my level, I would have played it out, but against Nigel Short, even Kasparov would resign, safe in the assumption that Short isn't going to screw it up.

Thought black should have played another few moves for the heck of it -- it's not like they had anywhere else to be, right?  :)

I also think 5.Rd8 is a blunder.  Instead, 5.Rxg7 continuing to protect the pawn.
