Eastern Ontario Open, June 2009 - My Tournament Games

Submitted by Pyke on Mon, 06/29/2009 at 1:14am.

Figured I would share them. I analyzed them in Fritz 9. Click on "Moves List" to see the proposed variants. Some interesting games, in my opinion. I nearly blew the second one.

I finished the tournament 2-1-2 (two bye's, due to a conflict on the middle day)... Was good enough for tied for 2nd in my class (U-1400).

I did. I actually noticed that when I analyzed the game. I made a couple blunders in that game.

I was so focused on the possibility of making that move on the other side (via capturing Nxf3) I totally missed the opportunity on Nxc2. The worst part is - I actually made another blunder later in the game (Rxe3) that relinquished a superior position - and was lucky to hold on to win.

I think I need to use more time in my games... I tended to use only ~35 to 40 minutes of my 2 hours (analog, 1.5h/30 sec increment digital)... which I think is a big problem.
