Fischer - Tal (1959)

As promised, a very nice game between one of the, if not the, best chess players of all time, 'Bobby' Fischer and Mikhail Tal, still renowned for his dangerous tactics.  This game shows something about Tal that is often overlooked.  Sometimes building up pressure and mobilizing pieces is the key to winning.  The beautiful sacrifices are just the icing on the cake.

Without further ado, lets get into the (fully annotated!) game.

Its true that Fischer was only 16-17 but Tal was around 21-22 so not much of an age difference. But what I dont understand is that how easily people call fischer the greatest (which he may be easlily) but but dish out Tal saying he was a good tactician. What he was is relentless in his attack and created art on the chessboard ingoring winning. Now that takes a lot of courage and serious love for the game. Tal's positonal ideas were not weak either (as seen in his blitz match with Karpov) Tal is a contender for one of the greatest players of all time

Great game, and thanks for the annotations.

The only thing is that on move 7 Bb3, Fischer does that so Tal doesnt go 7...Nxe4, forcing 8 Nxe4, followed by a fork with the D pawn  of Fischer's bishop and knight with 8...D5.

Thanks again for a really interesting game

Keep in mind that Bobby was 15 or 16 years old at this time. Of course he was US Champion at 14!
