Hopeless Romantic

Submitted by kenytiger on Tue, 04/01/2008 at 2:12pm.

Here is another miniature where Rudolf Charousek displays his brilliant chess ability. He loses his castling rights early, then he sacrifices two pieces. Black makes the fatal mistake of neglecting his Queen-side development. In order to punish Black's  carelessness, White sacrifices his Queen, soon the game is over.

Thanx kenytiger, one more time, 'cause this other gem. Charousek shows his expertise in this game, and after loosing his queen, black has to solve many issues the rest of the game without developing four pieces and a trapped knight.

Thanks again, kenytiger. Another very interesting and instructive game. (Although, there is no way I currently have the chess-cajones the Rudolf had!)

Many thanks karibola.  I certainly still have much to learn (if you find the time, still nobody has pointed out my mistakes in "First Serious Game" on the analysis page... you seem qualified :-P).

How is Qf8 losing?  My asking the question does not mean I claim it isn't, it simply means an amature doesn't see it and needs some help.

"There was still game to be played after Kg7, black resigned prematurely."

 lol, completely false.

21. Kg7

22.  fxg8=Q+   22. Kh6

23. Re7    23. Ng3 (blacks moves dont matter anymore)

 24. hxg3  24. kh5

25. Rxh7#

Qf8 is a much better defense, but losing nonetheless so black correctly resigned.

well i thought that initially, but then just fxg8+ and black is lost.  He's going to lose all his material.
