The King's gambit opening was born in the XVI century. The main ideas after 1.e4 e5 2.f4 are to attack the Black center by offering the f-pawn and if Black captures it with 2...exf4. After 3.d4 White gets a pretty strong pawn formation in the center with the e4 and d4 pawns. Black can choose to accept the pawn by 2...exf4 or to reject it by 2...Bc5 or to play a counter-sacrifice by 2...d5. In this article we will study a game where Black accepted the pawn.
Always love the King's Gambit. Thanx for sharing with annotations!
I really enjoy playing the King's Gambit, but I often run into complications against players more skilled than me. I can't seem to find the the proper response for 1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Nf3 Be7 followed by 4. ...Bh4+
Even the thought of this aggressive counter causes me to shy away from even attempting the King's Gambit. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to handle it?
i don't play e4 as white, nor e5 againest e4 as black........
