Power Of Double Cheak

Submitted by ChosenEBall on Tue, 12/16/2008 at 6:23pm.

I was reviewing a few games and this was a  really interesting game i came along. Studying this game i can clearly see that he set his opponent up for this blinded check mate.

I know before i saw this i never considered the power of double check, and now i use it to my advantage. With double check you don't allow your opponent to block the check so he or she has to move out of the way, or lead to a mate.

If you do like to pursue Chess literature, might i suggest the double books of John Watson "Secrets of Modern Chess Strategy" and it's sister volume successor "Chess Strategy in Action". They might be alittle too technical but I found that many of the players I've tutored loved the book by the British Grand Master John Nunn, "Understanding Chess Move By Move". Of course anything written by David Bronstein is out of this world.

Bruce Pandolfini put this variation of Ruy Lopez into Chess Openings:Traps and Zaps. (Ruy Lopez is: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5...) This is the first game on the Ruy Lopez section if you guys happen to have Bruce's book.
