Resign too early?

Submitted by Jupitar on Sun, 10/19/2008 at 9:54pm.

In this game, black resigned after white queen put his king in check, I was wondering why?  There are still moves to be made, and I dont see a mate anytime soon.  Also, mistakes could be made.  I learned a while back that early resignations were one of my downfalls.  I am not trying to be completley ignorant of the situation, but if someone could comment on how this game is completley over for black, please do...Enhance my perspective of this game and future moves.

White would win the queen as mentioned earlier.  It would be a skewer because the more valuable piece (the king) is in front of the less valuable piece (the queen)

The black will lose his queen to white's Rook and also his bishop for free. But i think he could have played on for a few more moves. Because you never know when you opponent might err and hand back the advantage to you Laughing.

after

18...Kd7 (forced)

19. Rd1 wins the queen.

There could also be some trouble for black after

19. Qxe6+

hope this helps
