Another variation that is also devastating.

Traps are good, but what would you do if you don't have them!

playing for traps is lame. Its nice to know them, and always mouth watering when opponents fall into one, but playing a lame move like Nd4 HOPING that your opponent wil take on e5 is pretty bogus. how many 1500+ players have fallen for this one?

To Molant:

I agree that the option that I proposed would still leave the king in a very vulnerable position, but I feel it might be a better option than moving the knight at 5. Nxf7.  I would think that maybe even sacrificing the knight in this case is the best option for white.

These are all instructive gamelets.  Thanks.

Maybe I'm missing something, Davidetal, but it seems like 6.Qf3 is better than 6. Qh5.  Both moves threaten mate at f7, but 6.Qf3 wins the Rook, too, I believe.  It's actually what I THOUGHT you were playing for when you nicely drove away the KN on f6 while opening up that lovely, long diagonal.

Why would white not go 5. Nf3 instead of Bxf7 or Nxf7?  This move would leave white in a much better position both in terms of pieces and positioning.

In the last game, suggested by Davidmingming, White should play 10.Nd5 and if 10...Qd8 11.Nxf6+ Bxf6 12.Bxf7+, White has wins a pawn.
