The Isolated Pawn

Submitted by benws on Wed, 04/16/2008 at 5:52pm.

This game shows Lasker in his best form as he shows the best way to deal with an isolated pawn. He wins material, but still must win an endgame. How he does this is a treat to watch.

Wow.  There was a lot of tactics in that game and it was great fun to watch and play in my head.  Great game.

Looks like the Tarrasch defense to the Queen's Gambit.  The isoloni gives you space in the middle game and attack potential but can be a target of attack and become weak.  Doesn't tranisiton well into an endgame unless you've converted it to other advantages.
