Weird Enough?

Weird positions call for unusual moves! That's probably what Anand would tell you in this victory where he leaves en prise, among other things, his queen and bishop. By the way, this is my last article before I head off to Texas for a much-needed vacation :)

I was there, at Biel, in 1997. Except for Kasparov and Karpov, the whole world of chess was congregated in that one place. My teacher qualified and was playing.

Wow! I had never seen this game before, and I play this variation. I would not have predicted many of these moves, and had no idea what was going on, even at the end. Very Weird indeed!
