Hi all...

This a an opinion on the new FIDE rule which requires all players must be present before the start of the game. No more waiting time. If you are late, then you lost the game.

In a way I agree that this method will "teach" the habitual latecomers. However, this will hamper the beauty of chess.... A Win by Default is Not A Win At All...

What is yours?...:)

I think the fairest thing to do is start the game and the clock.

If the opponent is not there and they run out of time, they lose.

If they arrive before they run out of time, they can still play with whatever remaining time they have.

    Anything else is just unfair.

I like the rule that allowes you to arrive 1 hour late, I hope they will never implement this in the national competition.
