Alright, so round 4 of this quad, I was paired against DraggonZ, with the black pieces! He had a much lower rating, but with a FIDE rating of nearly 2200, he was clearly a better player than I, and just hadn't played many games in the Standard time controls yet!
It started out well for me, but I overlooked his 18th move, and blundered embarrassingly badly in response. I decided to resign, rather than waste my opponent's time, not many moves later! In my defence, I have just returned from a gruelling 3 hour exam, with not much sleep all week, so my mind is a little mush. Sorry if my comments seem like complete rubbish!
Anyway, here's the game. Reminder that this game was in the thematic quad, so the opening was Modern Benoni. First time I've ever played this system as Black. It was quite interesting - really wish I hadn't blundered so quickly - and so badly!
Poor show from me, one blitz move and it was all over. Just goes to show, it doesn't matter how tired you are, you should calculate the line properly, and evaluate the position at the end! Well, hopefully I'll do better next time.
