the scripture, "shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty". This sounds
pretty obvious in terms of a bigger protector watching over us. There are many
illustrations on the Internet to an eagle or a dove flying over a person, or a tree
providing shade, etc.
In short - God's promise is to watch over His children. Keep in mind this scripture in
Luke 6:46 - "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I
say?" If you truly claim to be a child of God, DO YOU OBEY HIM? With that being
said, we can reflect upon this scripture as we enter in to His promises for our life.
King David gave a very dramatic (and accurate) depiction of God's protection over him
in 2 Samuel 22:2-3 / 2And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and
my deliverer;
3The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my
salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from
violence.
Think upon these words today, as I give you the meaning straight from the Hebrew:
Rock = סֶלַע = cela` = crag, cliff, rock, stronghold
Fortress = מָצוּד = matsuwd = net, prey, net prey, fastness, stronghold
Deliverer = פָּלַט = palat = to escape, save, deliver, slip away
Shield = מָגֵן = magen = shield, buckler
Horn = קֶרֶן = qeren = horn
Salvation = יֵשַׁע = yesha` = deliverance, salvation, rescue, safety, welfare (notice how
close this is to Yeshua, or JESUS!!!)
High Tower = מִשְׂגָּב = misgab = high place, refuge, secure height, retreat
Refuge = מָנוֹס = manowc = flight, refuge, place of escape
Saviour = יָשַׁע = yasha` = to save, be saved, be delivered (once again, how close to
Yeshua - JESUS!)
With this in mind, let us reflect on our end of the deal - spending alone time with God,
and humbling our will underneath His will. With this comes the promises of protection
and salvation that God provides! We cannot call ourselves Christians if we don't obey
His Word! Today is the day of salvation. This doesn't just mean getting saved - it
also means allowing God to save you "...to the uttermost..." (Hebrews 7:25).
God bless!
