BorgBlog

I figure I should at least be able to say that "yes, I have made a blog before", so I started this blog as a bit of an experiment.

If I find people actually bother to read it, I'll extend it to include stuff that might be interesting to others.

If you would like to see something here, please post!  If you have some suggestions about blogging and why it's useful, please post!

    • Near Perfect Game!

Hey friends! Tonight, I played a championship game at my club.  I was up against a chap named Josh and I have to win to maintain 3rd position, half a point behind 2nd and only one point behind 1st.  This is the penultimate round.  Time control... | Read More

    • Milestone Game!

Finally! I have won a championship OTB game against my #1 nemesis, Edgar!  He is rated over 2100 and I am currently rated 1750 (ACF). In this game, I played a very high number of "Best Moves" according to Houdini, played no blunders, and very f... | Read More

    • Going Into Study Phase

Hi everyone, Just thought I'd let you know that I am winding down my activities on chess.com so as to give me the time I need to do the chess studies I want to do. I am planning on studying at least these two books: My System, by Nimzowitsch. D... | Read More

    • Back to Back!

Our club, Modbury, specifically the Modbury Marauders team, which I am in, has won the Interclub tournaments here in Adelaide for the second year running! Back to back champs! And there's one round to go and we have the bye.  The closest team n... | Read More

    • Bit of a smashing!

Well, ok, it's a bit of a poor performance from black, but I was very happy to do so well in this game.  No real mistakes from me, a few inaccuracies, but nothing too bad. Played at Interclub matches in Adelaide tonight (28 May 2013). Time cont... | Read More

    • Why does the US refuse to go metric?

Shared on  facebook to millions: It's pretty hard to argue against the logical nature of metric, so I always wonder why the US sticks to the stupid imperial system... | Read More

    • Victory!

The club I belong to has been competing in this year's Interclub matches.  Last night was the final round.  It was a nail-biter for all of us!   A Grade We're 0.5 points ahead of the competition.  The team just behind us (Ninjas) are our f... | Read More

    • Take More RISKS!

Tonight, I played black against a King's Gambit.  I lost but if I had "taken the risk" the win was there!! This is more of a note to self, that I need to take more risks -- be brave and just see how it pans out!   I find this to be a frequent ... | Read More

    • How to throw a win away...

This is a championship game I just played.  I did quite well, except for a couple of moves, one of which I'd call the blunder of blunders.  Thowing away a perfectly won game. Sorta funny, but I am still annoyed at myself for allowing it to happ... | Read More
