I just watched "Melik and Me"   Loved  it!  Josh asked questions that have been bothering me for years and Melik gave explanations that I could really understand! (My USCF rating is 1605)

If you would exclude the extra line I made after each show it is 4 lines/show instead of 3 lines/show (-1 if it's not for all members in both cases). I think the extra space it takes is worth it (1 line for time and 1 line for show name). I guess the main reason it takes much more space is that using a diagram seemed to add more space between the lines than without a diagram and that seems to be impossible to edit (as far as I know). On the other hand if you care about space the deathmatches in your format seemed to take up a lot more than necessary. I don't think bigger fonts for bigger shows is the best idea if you want an easy to read program. 1 extra line with the players participating would probably be good, but 3 extra lines with bigger fonts is way too much in my opinion. All shows are there to be seen not only those that screams the most to the reader.

Martin0, that's a very nice format, but it looks like it would lengthen it even more (?) With the amount of programming, people would have to scroll forever to view what's there, so in that way, though easy-to-read, I'm not sure it's practical. Thank you for that, though! :D

You do have me thinking about something else, though, that I may be able to condense things more. I'll have to think about this :) I've always gone by the way the scheduling was done on the TV page, but it's something I'll try to put some thought and time into and if it looks good and is better/easier, will run it by Danny :)

Thanks for commenting, gang! It's always a good things and often leads to improvements :D

If I would try to organize the program it would look something like this (see below). I guess it's a matter of taste weather it's better/worse, but I think it becomes easier to read this way with less colors and more spacings.

OK, as I thought, when Mark and I first set up the Chess.com/TV Group, we looked into doing the schedule in "calendar" format, but the only calendar app on the site is for actual events, so that's not an option.  Sorry :( The schedule is always in the Group, in the "News" section.

I don't know if you prefer looking at the schedule on the actual Chess.com/TV page (You may prefer "all black" fonts?). I recently re-formatted it for easier reading than what it was.

Anyway, those are the two places you have to look at updated scheduling :)

Just so you guys know----it was me---Donna---who mistakenly titled Judit as a WGM. I will fix it. Thanks! I'm not as knowledgeable and I'm the one who does the schedules like this. Mark didn't proofread this blog for content, so it's not his fault. Just making that clear :)

Also, as far as the schedule format, I do this as a volunteer, and even doing it this way (not as a calendar) takes a lot of my time, so changing that won't happen any time soon, I don't think. I CAN look into that on the site though. I have color-coded everything so you can see the info you need at-a-glance. All the dates and titles of the shows are in brown, so the key info is picked up by your eyes, so that is immediately recognizable. The rest follows suit. Color-coding is what makes this relatively easy to read, I think. Sorry you had trouble with it : /

For those that don't seem to get it WGM is a title and GM is also a title. Only women can get WGM, but they can also get GM which is a better title. Judit Polgar is a GM and not WGM.

Yes, Chess.com is getting really better!  I love this site!

I want to make an honest remark though.  I did not like the live coverage of the Candidates Tournament at all.  I really like Daniel Rensch in general, but not this time.

The analysis was not in depth at all for an IM! There was also a GM, and they just commented superficially on some lines of play and made jokes the whole time which became borring after a while...  Instead of making it instructive, for example explainning some of the openning theory, variations, etc.

And in the last round when Carlsen-Svidler and Ivanchuk-Kramnik were deciding their fate with less than 3 minutes for carlsen and the same for Ivanchuk,  they kept focusing on the Aronian and Gelfand games!

I think we should refer to Magnus Carlsen as an MGM from now on, by the same logic.

Well since everyone is dog piling on you Mark regarding the WGM issue ..., ha ha! I won't add to it. Yes she is a GM and a woman, she's well and truly in a category all her own and will be immortalized in the history of our game for her life-long accomplishments and how she has advanced the game not only for women but for everyone who loves the game.  Hall of Fame? Never a doubt!

I think we all know what WGM stands for, but the fact is GM Judit Polgar has earned the GM title. She is a GM, not a WGM.
