Chess Genius Paul Morphy vs. Amateur - Evans Gambit VIDEO

This is a chess game played in 1858 between a 19th Century genius, Paul Morphy of New Orleans, and an amateur. This game acts as a nice example of attacking play, culminating in a brilliant queen sacrifice.

The finishing move pawn-f6 made my jaw drop. That was a thing of beauty.

Many thanks for another excellent video.

When ever I finish watching one of your videos I feel like I have tons of new ideas that I want to try in my own games. Great stuff.

Top notch as usual. Speaking of startling tactics, have you considered a look at Nezhmetdinov? Or perhaps you have already?

Thanks very much. Nitpick: that's "Evans Gambit", no apostrophe, the inventor's name was Captain Evans.

The opening goes in and out of style - it's more than a century since Steinitz and Chigorin played it again and again in a World Championship match, but even Kasparov has used it occasionally. I'm not brave enough to use it though. Smile

Very creative attacking by Morphy, however that amateur was playing very very poorly, I am quite sure I can beat him.
