Chess Traps #1: Noah's Ark Trap - Ruy Lopez

The Noah's Ark chess trap in the Ruy Lopez, Modern Steinitz Defense results in black trapping white's light-squared bishop by force after tricking white into an immediate recapture on the 8th move of the game. The Noah's Ark trap is one of many chess traps for black out of the Ruy Lopez and, in this tutorial, I play through the moves to the chess trick itself while offering very brief tips.

Well, I fully agree with that last point.

@Lawdoginator: If a player doesn't respect me sufficiently to resign when I am about to promote, I have every right to "school" him as to how to checkmate with just a rook.  And that's not the point; what is the point is that, despite winning a piece for 2 pawns, it took another 50 moves to promote a pawn to reach an indisputably winning game.  You know all these opening traps all you want, but if you don't know how to achieve an indisputably winning position from them (or how to checkmate with just a rook), then it's all for naught.

Hey Jempty, I hate the chess player's conceit of not finishing games. How many movies do you leave twenty minutes before the ending? How many novels do you read where you skip the last chapter? How many times do they suspend an NBA game once they reach garbage time and the starters come out?

There is no disrespect inherent in finishing a game to checkmate. You introduced the disrespect by promoting to a rook when it wasn't needed to avoid stalemate.

But in the final position from the video, as Black you still have to win your "won position".  Here I do that with my piece for two pawns, but it takes another 70 moves and not because I don't play well, but rather because my opponent forces me to checkmate him; also 10-12

moves in the end are due to me under-promoting to a rook instead of a queen but I do this to demonstrate my displeasure when opponent don't resign when they can't stop me from promoting.
