This game is from the Nanjing Pearl Spring Chess Tournament 2010. It analyzes the Round 5 game of Magnus Carlsen of Norway vs Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria. The opening played was a Closed Ruy Lopez.
one of the best videos I have seen on chess.com
I play the Ruy Lopez alot and it was interesting to listen to your analysis. Please post more like it if you have time. Thank you!!
d'informative video, all d'best
This video is really cool, and the game itself is cool as well. Good stuff.
Why didn't Topalov just play Bd7 instead of Rb8, given that he played it anyway a couple of moves later, and then played Ra8 again? Was it in fact a waiting maneouvre?
great instructive analysis. i think i am going back to 1. e4 from now on
aren't you messaging your facebook followers about a new video upload anymore jerry?
i liked that alot
Very useful, I've seen Carlsen win a lot with white playing the Ruy Lopez, d3 instead of Re1 to avoid the Marshall.
Thanks ! Great and comprehensible explanations. A pleasure to listen !
Excellent explanations Jerry. Thanks. Kingscrusher has a pair of videos on this game that are very much along the same lines.

Super clear analysis! Fantastic!
Thanks for the great explanation. Very helpful about the reason for some of the moves.
Thank you, its been a while since I have played d3 OTB but I may have some new ideas...
