Magnus Carlsen vs. Vishy Anand - 2012 Chess Masters Final - Bilbao

The #1 ranked chess player in the world, Magnus Carlsen, battles the reigning World Chess Champion, Viswanathan Anand, in Round 9 of the 2012 Chess Masters Final in Bilbao. The opening is a Sicilian Defense, Canal-Sokolsky Attack where Carlsen sacrifices a pawn to induce kingside weaknesses. Anand's defense proves to be a very difficult task. Might Magnus Carlsen be the challenger for the 2014 World Chess Championship title, and might this game be a preview of an ensuing battle?

oh..wat a game 25.) Nh3 and vishy made de first mistake Ne8 bringing the knight to the back rank for defence..but its hard to spot the mistake in playing Ne8.I analyzed the full game with houdini and i found these guys playing lik a computer till move 24...moving precisely every move until vishy broke the ice with Ne8. Vishy didn expect the out come of Qh6 and vishy mightnot hav prepared with Macorzy bind kind of of position.Carlsen playing lik Fischer using the intuitions to attack...gr8 Art...it shows carlsen wud be tough competetior for the world champion ...so vishy beware

Thanks Jerry. I had trouble seeing why Anand resigned. You explained it perfectly.

I wish you'd do more of Carlsen's games!  I go over them myself but I always miss the ideas that go along with the moves played.  Very instructive, thanks.

Thanks Jerry. Watching Magnus games in this event makes me even sadder he didn't play in WC. Would be so much more enjoyable than those tiresome Anand-Gelfand games.
