Welcome to this blog post :-)
The fourth round of the Candidates Tournament in Khanty-Mansiysk has been played. Again an interesting round with memorable games!
Enjoy the videos!
Aronian - Svidler
Anand - Kramnik
Mamedyarov - Andreikin
Karjakin - Topalov
Hi, I also appreciate the more detailed analysis in these videos, especially because this is an important tournament. I think 15-30 minutes is very reasonable.
Thanks for the feedback. Preparation takes some time. I use the computer heavily, simply because you want the video released rather quickly and not like a week later. For a game like Aronian-Svidler it's impossible to do anything decent without computer help if you only have little time available. Still it's a good thing to dive a bit deeper into these games and it might help to improve for me as well.
As for the length of the videos: They are long, but I don't know how to do anything insightful in a fraction of time. You can do a quick highlights video like Danny King is doing. That's just a different concept. I was thinking of doing such a video in addition to the others in fact. It's an easy thing to add as it requires no additional analysis and only little recording time.
Chris, I've noticed that some people are complaining about the length of your videos, while others prefer the longer analysis and in-depth commentary. Well, if you want my opinion, I can't express enough gratitude for these long videos! Perhaps some people don't enjoy chess as much as I and many others do, but to me, listening to your long, detailed commentary about these Candidate matches (and the insight in your long, detailed commentary is something most GMs wouldn't know about) is pure bliss.
I enjoyed your videos. Does it take alot of time to prepare a video like these? How do you do it? Are you a strong player? Has it helped your strength to analyze these games and make these videos?
