Black was not prepared for 3.Bc4 instead of the most frequent 3.d4, and played a "standard pattern" (Bg4) without enough calculation, too early. With a Nf6 this wouldn't have been a mistake.

5.Bxf7! is good. But even better was 4.Bxf7!, because after 4.d3 Black had the chance to either reply 4...e6 defending the combination, or 4...Bh5.

A funny variation is 4...Bh5 5.Ne5! Nd7! 6.Qxh5 Nxe5, all with f7 being the hot spot.
