Speed of play

I am new to the site. I don’t consider myself a greatest player, but I do enjoy playing a challenging game – win or not. One thing I do not enjoy is waiting for a day (sometimes 2) for my opponent to make 1 move. Where is fun in this? By the time the move is made, I have already forgotten what my strategy was. If you aren’t going to play the game, why start?

Unfortunatly you will find a lot of people playing in that way....In my opinion is  the most boring way of playing chess...:-(

    I completly agree with you....

The point is that you and your opponent both have a comfortable amount of time to consider each move without real life intervening - an amount, by the way, that you both agree to before the beginning of the game. The fun is in probing your chess abilities, building good quality games with your opponents, and making friends. If you can't remember your strategies, that's something you need to work on, and sophomoric whinging won't help you much in that regard.

Actually, the reason so many people need days to make a move, I think, is that everyone is allowed to play 100s of games at a time. Everybody here must be better than me to be able to keep up with so many games. I like to analyze moves as well, just not for days. Well, you are correct, I can decide what type of game and who I play. I posted the comment mainly because I was surprised with what I was seeing.
