Norris vs West: Adventures in the Alapin Sicilian.

Played in the Westfield Quads on June 12, this game intrigued me because White played a sideline that Ken Smith tried to popularize in the 70's. I'd always thought that recapturing with 5.Qxd4 was a little dubious, and this game does little to make me think otherwise.

At move 13, White's only active piece is his Queen. Surely this is a sign that something has gone wrong. There must be improvements, but I don't have enough interest in the White side of this opening to go looking for them. In fact, I think the improvements probably start on move 4 or 5.
