The reason behind this curse is to have a single place to refer friends who are somewhat new to chess, as well as being able to refer back here in regard to more advanced lectures. The basic philosophy of this first lecture series is going to be to go through the very basics in a very thorough way. Understanding each piece is going to be very important to all sorts of later lectures. Basically it is the foundation for everything else. The only prior knowledge you really need is knowing the rules and chess notation. So starting with the next post, let’s make some basic observations in regard to each piece and their unique properties.
