I haven't posted a blog in a long time, and I wanted to record this position somewhere, so I'm dropping it here as a puzzle.
The continuation in the puzzle is from the game continuation. Tougher defenses from black are given in the movelist.
1.. Bc8 looks better, to give the King a "pocket" in the end on e6, but really I dont see it thru as I dont have a board handy to go thru it, or comp to test it..
Nice tactics, could never find it without using some time!
beauty, nice puzzle! Got it here but I doubt I would see it in a blitz game.
Nice final. Exactly my style to beat
Yes, 8. Qxb6 cxb6 9. Rxa8 is easily winning and tempting. In the game I don't think I even considered it because I was too low on time to count material! I just analyzed the check first and that was that.
Nice one! I fell for the queen trade after 7...Kd7.
"6.. Qb5, kind strange... what's the pourpose of it?"
That's kind of a funny thing to say without providing an alternative move. I don't think there is anything black can do about the coming checkmate and he just hoped white might go for the queen trade.
Perhaps a better try was 6. ... Rd8 intending to meet 7. Ra8+ with 7. ... Kd7 and then Ke8 getting to safety, but white just plays 7. Ra7 instead.
6.. Qb5, kind strange... what's the pourpose of it?
Nice and forcing continuation!
Very nice finish!
Impressive blitz play!
Welcome to my blog! In the USCF I am rated 1921.
The content posted here is from my real chess experience, either games I've played or observed. I'll try to put an instructive twist on it. So if you're looking for a glimpse into how a B player thinks about the game, check in and see what I've got. Well, recently my rating has gone over 1800, so perhaps I should list myself as class A instead of class B, but it's not a huge difference.
