CHESS ART

CHESS ART

I have always found the asethetic of Chess pleasing. Without a doubt, most can at least faintly recall the first time they saw that cool looking toy horse on a checkered board.

To this day, I still enjoy OTB games so much more than online games because they give me this nostalgic feeling akin to being a kid, playing with toys. In other words, I simply like how Chess pieces look.

The Chess Set you see before you in an Executive Tournament Set that I simply painted. Once I was done, I decided to paint the board too. Overall I am happy with the look and feel inspired to try some other colors with other sets in the future. Furthermore, I have designed my own set and am currently sculpting pieces using a nice form of clay. Yet that will have to wait for a later post.

Thanks for reading.

The initial view of the board might be aesthitcally interesting, but the demands of concentration, tuning out all that is irrelevent the position of pieces would take away any awareness of everything but the black and white.

I enjoy taking a break for standard tournement and club sets.  The pieces become action figures with personalities.

Wow! Well done! Brings so much life to the pieces, and board as well. In my opinion, this fantastic game deserves contrast and color. Plain old black and white can be strenuous on the eyes, so rather than distracting, I would find it relieving. Kuddos

Very cool, Brian - I like the chess art a lot! I would definitely prefer to play on a customized board like that one than just a regular, standard tournament set. Probably wouldn't find it too distracting, but maybe others would. Anyway I think it turned out really well - looking forward to seeing the pieces you sculpted!

Curious though... Would any of you find it disracting to play on such a board?
