Chess University - Modern White Repertoire 1. c4!

Hi again!

It's been a while since my last opening lecture, so I'd like to continue with one of the most fashionable openings today, the English. The English has been championed by players such as Kasparov in must win games and is rapidly rising in popularity in modern chess. For many years, 1. e4 and 1. d4 have been seen as almost automatic opening moves. This makes 1. c4 a less prepared for and interesting choice for a player of any level.

Chess 313 – Modern White Repertoire - 1.c4.

Level: Chess 313 is geared towards players with a strength of 1200 – 1800. If you are not in this rating group but would like to join you are still welcome.

When: Scheduled On Sunday, February 17th, 2013 at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.

Format: The total seminar duration will be 2 hours and 15 minutes, with two 1- hour sessions that are separated by a 15-minute break.

Course Description: The English is a trusted opening used by the World's most elite players. Find out what all of the fuss is about. We will cover all of the main systems that Black can play in response to the English as well as some personal recommendations and analysis that I have done from White's point of view.

Prerequisites: There are no prereqs for this course.

Tuition: $26/person

    Very nice,

I use 1. c4 as an Anti-Scandianavian weapon, if i know my opponent is likely to play so.

c4 often transposes to d4 openings so it would be good if there is a way to play purely c4, so that I won't have to study d4 openings.
