cheating for real

I have been reading a lot of posts in forums and it struck my interest.

Cheaters can be kicked-out and they can make a new account over and over again....but the point is how to prevent them? It would be very hard and time consuming..

There were post even directly implicated themselves as cheaters and yet.... still at large and being played with by the same chess.com player as a group/team.

Is it possible that that an administrator or group of administrator is behind some of the cheaters to spice up the game and produce hot/fiery things to talk about? Is it a part of a marketing strategy... wherein at some point in time words written in blogs, articles etch... would bring out all possible words to further increase      ( though it's already #1 search) the chances to be found in majority of search engines. Thus, surfers would somehow end-up in chess.com's pages?

If this is the case... it's a good idea... but the problem is! What is the use of saying cheaters if found will be kicked-out or result to cancellation of his/her account. There were articles from admin. regarding courtesy, etiquette's, etch... what is it for? Moral web publicity? Implicating oneself as a cheater by directly saying he/she is cheating is a direct testimony of it's unfavorable activity.

What I'm saying is....  You cannot promote honesty and sportsmanship if the promoter itself is very lenient to people who blatantly admit and boast of his cheating. Thus in due time like a rotten tomato with whole bunch of fresh ones will be all rotten.

I'm afraid that there will come a time that members would result to cheating because the site somehow directly or indirectly tolerates cheaters.

Lastly in this case, on my opinion... There won't be or less propagation of friendship. A new member can just use the site to play with their true friends. A member might not upgrade to premium account... why? whats the use of other benefits if you know you're playing with (though not all) cheaters, one would prefer playing with their computer, no need for subscription and costless.

" THE POINT IS - CHEATERS ARE NOT CHEATERS UNLESS BEING CAUGHT IN THE ACT, AND BLATANT ADMISSION OF CHEATING IS A FACT AND NEEDS TO BE DEALT WITH ACCORDINGLY. IMPOSING RULES STATED ON THE TERMS OF AGREEMENT, IN USING THE SITE."

I might as well create a tournament. " tournament of chess engines"  1,000,000 points and 20,000,000 trophies available for the sole winner.

" This are my thought that I wanted to share to all members to improve playing etiquette's and to promote sportsmanship, honesty and should not be considered as a derogatory remark to a person or group of person."

Cheating is self-serving for whatever purpose they have. But definitely Points and trophies are just measurement for activeness, and self-fulfilment is the real measurement of our efforts in everything we do. thus, there will never be self-fulfilment in cheating.

To all members.... out there, if you fill you were being cheated... strive harder and make things better by trying to learn and enjoy the game. If you cannot beat them... retreat and revise your strategies DO NOT JOIN THEM. It feels much better knowing you've won against a top of the line chess engine....lol.

Goodluck to all your games and be guided accordingly.

I played 7 games and I am up from 1200 to 1650 and I think I will continue it for more time. Players might be strong. And yes, you can't prevent cheating. playchess I think has a very effective ways of finding cheating. Well people have started cheating in real games 'alive', I don't think its easy to stop doing it online.

    to Rick29:

Every restaurant or any business establishment aims for best quality service, and if you find that they failed to serve you best, like having been served with a broken glass... you have the right to complain and inform the management to straighten things-out because they won't know unless you give information on the details of concern such as erring personnels.

    You said:

"i have observed players not starting their ratings at 1200,but 1507with a record of 10 amazing wins!. is this possible? he "bit" that poor indonesian 14 year old... poor boy."

Yes, it is possible...When you sign up, you automatically get 1200 rating. Each time you finished a rated game, yours will change depending on the result. In his case.... he must have won 10 games in a row shooting up his rating to 1507 as you mentioned.

The rating beside our names automatically changes to our current rating.

If you are a newbie your rating will change drastically, and as you continue playing and finishing each game, the changes will be subtle... at somepoint you'll get your approximate actual rating strength.

That is why after playing for 20  or more rated games, your adjustment rating changes will be lesser compared to your first game rating adjustment.  That is the time You get to know your approximate rating strentgth, therefore it doesn't mean that something is wrong or that the person in question is cheating.

Thank you for sharing your concerns.. goodluck ang god bless

Hi friend "mabuhay" i just want to share with you my experience in one of the "A"restaurants at west av. who boast of their superb service and guarantees fine dining with the help of their well trained staff(dadi's pt.) this is why we tried the place to cut the story short we were "disgusted" (3pts.)a.)they serve their regulars first even though they came later. b.)their staff are not mindful of the needs of the costumers and are kidding on the side c.)they served us with a broken water glass!. By the way going back to topic i have observed players not starting their ratings at 1200,but 1507with a record of 10 amazing wins!. is this possible? he "bit" that poor indonesian 14 year old... poor boy.

If somone admits to cheating on this site, or is caught, then they would be banned.  If they claim to have cheated on other sites or in other games, that's their problem.  Why anyone would want to brag about such a thing is beyond me.

The idea is... who would know who is cheating? It's a hard job, but direct admission of cheating and not doing about it? what's the use?

The reason for cheating is vague to discuss. Even the reason for admitting cheating is countless... if someone admits he /she cheats, who would play with that person? I would prefer playing with my chess engine than playing a person that uses one. If you would recieve a challenge from a known cheater...would you play with him?

The idea of going AGAINST THE TIDE or directly boasting of cheating knowing that such action is against the terms and condition of this site when he signed up and agreed to.

I agree that someone should sensor posts that displays or encourage such action. Whether a member nor premium member, no one should be above the law/rules of this site. It's true that when expelled or kicked out from the site, one can always create another bogus account over and over again. But it doesn't necessarily mean nothing should be done about it.
