Sometimes it is better to wait until later to castle depending on the direction of play.  There is no security in trying to find a definitive move.

...also get closer to the action...when pieces are inactive, sit and wait where you are weaker...focus on the stronger side...

In the Carlos game the focus should have been on gaining space in the opening, the battle being for e5...also look out for counter breaks with your opponent's pushing a pawn and opening lines for bishops or outposts for their knights...20...Rce8 to prepare for Ne4 was critical. Also watch out for exchange sacrifice which can open the position at critical moments. Move 23 my opponent had the opportunity and didn't take it.

In the Julian game should have castled earlier. 24...Nxc4 a better option than Rook takes...a miscalculation in the taking order allowed me an extra piece and then the game...
