Controlling opposite color sqares

The timing of pawn advances is very important...make sure the pawns are supported before the advance...sometimes other pieces have to be put in place before the advance also. when you lose a bishop and you still have a queen, the queen can control the opposite color squares of you bishop many times. In the end game with one bishop, try and use your pawns and king to control the squares opposite your color bishop...thus creating more space advantage...
