    In the Grand Prix, when black moves 3...a6 to prevent your bishop from going to b5, then fianchetto it where it will be more effective and you can initiate a king-side attack. 10. Bd1 was the move to protect c2 and not open the c-file. when down material don't trade Q's as this limits your counterplay. Be aware of pawn pushes which relinquish control of squares which can be outposts for your pieces. In general, don't trade pieces which undoubles your opponent's pawns and don't trade good pieces for bad pieces, active pieces for inactive ones.

    11. dxc6 wins the the d6 pawn...16. Nd3 to set up c5... Don't move pawns or pieces to areas where they are undefended. Look for pieces that are undefended, limited in scope...maybe they can be captured through a double attack or even trapped.
