Playing Hank Anzis
This holiday was great. It was my first Thanksgiving with my amazing girlfriend Jaime & her family. I also had the chance to squeak in a little chess with an Iowa Chess LEGEND, Hank Anzis.
For those of you who don't know him, Hank is the chess-equivalent of what I want to become. His son Matt, Four-Time Iowa High School Champion, is quickly working towards becoming the best chess player Iowa has ever seen. Hank also recently launched a new website focusing on all things Iowa Chess related, which has been a long time in the making. For any Iowa Chess players, this should be a website you bookmark or follow on your RSS feed. Please give it a visit & help spread the word: www.centraliowachess.com
Beyond that, Hank is also gracious enough to help me improve my game & I always have a fun time when I play him. He is one of those GIANTS I am aspiring to play well against. (See my blog article, "David vs. Goliath - How Do You Slay a Giant?")
I met Hank at Zanzibar's on Ingersoll Ave in Des Moines & we had a chance to play a few games. I'll let Hank tell the tale of how it went down:

Thanks for a fun morning of chess, Hank! Always appreciated.
