Decision time.

On the 3rd I've got a decision to make. Do I or don't I want to resubscribe to chess.com? I haven't been a subscriber in a while and I'm starting to miss playing. I've joined a couple tournies and I'm doing the same as always. LOOSING!!! Cry. Everyone tells me to stick with the game and I'll eventually get better. Is this really true? I'd hate to waste money if I'm not going to get any better. In the past I've made plans with a teacher but never did anything with him. I just didn't want to waste his time or mine. Ok I've made my decision I'll subscribe and do my best and try not to get frustrated and quit again.

First of all.....you have to start to enjoy playing chess again. Sounds like you are not doing that right now.

Secondly, ask yourself what you are aiming for playing chess....is it to improve your play? That is going to happen whether you are conscious of it happening or not.

You don't have to pay a teacher for that to happen, it just depends on how fast you want to improve, and your own capability to absorb the mine-field of chess opening theories and tactical play that is easy to get hold of without having to pay someone who is going to earn a lot of money from you if you struggle with it initially.

Have a look at You Tube for free video clips, they are there.

Thirdly, subscribing to this site is fine if you want no adds, and free access to the afore mentioned video clips, and only enter tourneys that suit your grade, not one where you know you are likely to lose every game.

    Good luck with it, Yoopy.
