i think slav is on d4 Nf6 Nf3 d5 c4 is not usually played in slav so lets consider c4 c6 e3 Bg4 a pin Be2 THEN dxc4 Bxc4 so a bishop move is wasted and a knight is still pinned position advantage for black

I used to play Slav and Semi- Slav, but after a gap of 10 years I have forgotten the lines. I know you are a Slav fan.

    .

    .

Shall we start a Vote chess in your captaincy with Slav Defence and we playing Black . Just I'll recall the lines with you. What do you think ?

Unlike e4,you cant drag your opponent playing d4 to your favourite lines.

Nf3,the indian defences give the same problem ,so many opening lines besides as you said, it can be transposed to virtually many many distinctly varied openings.

Have you thought of the SLAV ?

    You are right Saswant.

And here I used to play 1. d4 d5 before now I go for 1.d4 Nf6 as it can be transposed to virtually all type of game plays for black ranging from, King's Indian Defence to Benoni.

Since we donot have the time to study all the openings thoroughly, better play openings which u can force on ur opponent and practice them a lot .

Example sicilian or caro kann or centre countre against e4,what do u say.

that is true but which opening do you follow ? The one you follow is best for you. I am asking for a suggestion so that i can concentrate on one opening rather than going for a junk of openings.

Thats a philosophical question trust me no one can answer that !

Really can there be a best defence as a general move ?
