On Thursday evening, I played for Warley Quinborne, against Halesowen, in my first match for them. The person who was supposed to play Board 4 was absent, and as the weakest of the players not playing, I was thrust into action.

There were a few nervy moments, but generally, it wasn't bad...

The team were 1 1/2 - 1/2 up when I left, I don't know how it finished. A few poor moves on my part. My opponent said that he missed c4 at the end, but as soon as he was content to swap queens when a pawn down with his King out of action, he was asking for trouble. Fritz seems to think it's still a draw after Qg8 at the end. It would have been interesting to see how that would have developed.

For now though, Played 1, Won 1!
