Fun in Keres Attack

Scheveningen variation in Sicialian defence fell a little bit out of favor recently. Everybody plays Najdorf/Dragon/Chelyabin.

Maybe it is because of Keres attack? Here is an interesting example from my recent game in Commercial Chess League in NYC.

    Andrey, if you were able to stop by the Two Moon during the study session tomorrow and guide us through the game, that would be cool. We start at 7 and should be there for a few hours.

    @Oran_perett:

    I did not calculate much, just thought that with all my pieces in the center, plus 2 pawns on e4/f4 against king on f7 SHOULD be good. And pawn on d6 will fall, and g7 is unprotectable...

    The tin-brain (Houdini) agrees, if black do not give up the piece and play Qe7 (in the game black moved Qc7, and Houdini does not even recommend to take the piece back but play Qg3 instead), then the evaluation is like +5 for white (say Nc6, then white will play Rd6, e5, f5, Qg3, etc).

    is the sack on c3 sound? or did black make an error giving the piece back?

    @mis3u: Rf6 sac was easy, and planned. I calculated till Qf6 and then Be5, getting bishop and 2 pawns for the rook - that was a fallback plan. But after that I saw that I can win the bishop on d7.

    Much more interesting is sac on c3!

    Looks like in the vast majority of games in the database Black plays 8..d5 instead of ..Nc6. Would you say that the reason for this is to counterattack in the center to White's flank attack in the most principled way ? It's really impressive to see White's attack throughout the entire game, it is so one-sided. When playing the rook sac Rxf6, was this based on concrete calculation (going till the 'almost played 26.Rxd7') or trusting the intuition enough?
