Checkmate in the endgame

This puzzle shows a nice motive when a pawn, a knight and a rook can checkmate the king which has 2 pawns which block him.

When you replay the game, please look the annotations under the board and look also the variations and side lines!

Took me a while to get over wanting to do 1.Nh5+ (seemed neater!) but I overcame it.  Thanks for these puzzles Attila - they are good fun.

Then Black can play 3...Kg5 with Kf4 idea, also he can go to h5. 3.e4 also wins, but that is longer.

What happens if 3.e4 instead of 3.g4?
