Counterpunch

Today I played a 3 minutes blitz game against one of the best blitz players of the World.

He is Grandmaster Emanuel Berg, one of the best players from Sweden.

He played the french defense, an aggressive line to exchange the light bishops. I prevented the exchange and worked on my development and defended my center.

He played an aggressive capture. I was able to make a counter-punch to get a small edge and improve my position move by move and got the c-file and a good knight.

In the last move he blundered his rook. Tried to challenge the c-file, but it was under heavy fire.

Thank you for reading this post. I wish you enjoy the game and the comments. Please send your ideas, questions as a comment!

Very nice Attila.  It seems that many of blacks Qside pawn moves actually helped you achieve your goal of rerouting the bishop to c2 when he almost forced you to play c2-c3 like you wanted.  Very nice use of minor pieces here.

Instead of b6, I think that c6 followed by b5 might have given black more chances

Congratulations on the win. It does look like the last move might have been a mouse slip since it makes more sense for the rook to come to d8 but still you played well and deserved the win.

Great game Attila! Congratulations for beating one of the worlds best blitz players! 3 min is btw. hard!

gnuandspeedo, he wants to exchange since it's black's bad bishop and white's good bishop. The c8-bishop is a typical problem for black in the French, since by playing 1...e6 it gets blocked.

    Thank you :)

Yes, 11.Bb3 prevented the exchange of the bishop. I planned to use that later on the b1-h7 diagonal to attack the black king.

That bishop can be very dangerous and if black can exchange it thatn his king position is safer.

Thank you for showing us this game.  Koszonjuk, Attila.

And please disregard the nonsensically ignorant and laughable commentary from Akilamar. People rated below 1200 in correspondence chess should have an abundance of humility to make up for their lack of chess knowledge.

    Cheers.

By preventing the exhange do you mean you 11. Bb3 move? Why would black want to exchange?
