    I think b7 is a black pawn, everything else is White, and the last moves were 1...Ne6-d8 and 2.cxd8=R+. That what you had in mind?

    One evening you walk into a dimly lit chess club and observe two elderly gentlemen engrossed in a game with an old wooden set which had faded with many decades of constant use. In fact it is so faded that you cannot distinguish the colours of the pieces. The club president whispers to you thst the players are experts and you therefore assume that the position in their game must have been reached with leagal moves. Can you deduce the colours of the pieces and what the last move was.

    PS: I found this in a magazine and I think I have the answer
