The Last Bivouac - from Horowitz' Golden Treasury of Chess This game was played between two Russian officers, Lieutenant Denn and Captain Perwago, stationed in Manchuria, on the night before a fateful battle in which Captain Perwago was killed and Lieutenant Denn seriously wounded. The lieutentant sent the score of the game to Simon Alapin with the attached note:
