This is a game I played with my buddy Noname. We wrote the game down, but still played like it was for fun. We went over the game afterward and found 2 inaccurate Bishop sacrifices (we knew they were inaccurate, but found better moves) and found some other errors as well. It was fun and he wanted me to post the game with our thoughts and analysis.
Sam, you are absolutely right - Nxe4 was completely playable. However, I chose Ng4 because it helped to remove the dark-squared bishop.
your move 8. ... Ng4 could have been played as
8. ... Nxe4
9. NxN d5 -- forking the knight and Bishop
As you played it though it was good!!!!
That was a fun game. I tried to post the game onto my blog and my blog still isn't working. I'll have to try again.
8.Qd2 is a better move in my opinion than 8.f3, which gets White into trouble after 8...Qb6 9.Bb3 Nxe4! 10.Nxe4 Bxd4 11.Bxd4 Qxd4 12.Qxd4 Nxd4 where Black is up a pawn. But White's best try on this 8th move is the unnatural 8.Bb3! (8.Qd2 allows Black to equalise in numerous ways, you showed a good one).
Nice game though. I thought you played pretty well except (of course) when you were trying to make it interesting! :-P
