Is it me or...this is normal

Well at first, I thought Chess was mainly about sacrificing pieces to win the game, but lately it seems more like trading pieces or well killing the unprotected one until the person with the less piece>less defense>loses. Any thoughts on this? Need me to relate it better? It was just something on my mind to wonder if Chess was like this in the first place.

Chess is chess, and winning is winning.  If you have to sacrifice to do it, sacrifice.  If you can get into a good endgame by trading, trade away.  Everyone's style is different, so it's a good thing that there are only three possible outcomes.
