What I'm Up To

I just wanted to post a quick update for friends and acquaintances here who might be wondering what I've been up to since leaving.

First, after years of working hard and nearly non-stop, I took a vacation Smile . Then I got down to one of my life-long dreams: trying to write. For the last four months, this has been my main work. Here is a post describing in a bit more detail what that experience has been like so far, and which projects I am working on. I'm sorry to say to everyone here that currently my chess writing projects are waiting in the wings, but maybe later this year!

One important aspect of this writing is that I wanted to launch a website where I (and others) could self-publish drafts of my writing, both to generate feedback and discussion. That site is now live! If interested, you can visit it here to read some of my writing (posted as "D;" there are posts from others as well). I greatly appreciate any feedback on content, ideas, expression, writing, anything!

In other news, I've also been learning to garden, growing food; this has been very rewarding. And in about a month I'll finally be making a return to competitive chess play, after an entire year without any serious play. The US Chess League season starts at the end of August, and I am back on the SF Mechanics, which I have played for every year except 2012 (because of my managerial duties with the league that year). It's been a while, but I'm definitely looking forward to it.

I hope everyone's lives and chess have been going well in my absence! I'm off to live chess, for a game of blitz to see if I can still move the pieces around Tongue Out.

Cheers,

David

Homegrown tomatoes are pretty awesome simply cut in half and sprinkled with a little salt, so tasty compared to supermarket tomatoes and frgarant as well.  Would make an asweome Salsa with some chopped onions and fresh homegrown chillies :D

    Good luck David!

If you were closer, I'd come and pinch some of your tomatoes for some pasta sauce, but you're a little out of my way. lol

Hi David!  My diet consists of strictly fast food, so no healthy stuff for me!  Haha

In all seriousness, its good to hear from you.  Good luck on your games.  With your talent, you won't need luck.

Yes, yes you've done enough damage to David's pride and joy here. He simply just wanted to give a quick head's up on what he's been up to...and you ruined it.

Ruined it for all of us.   I don't even think he'd offer us any tomato plants out of his garden NOW.  Maybe 50mins ago, but not NOW.  :(

No, I always cry at funerals.

I think we've spammed this forum enough. :)

That it does.  You'd be the best person to hire at every funeral.  You'd be comforting people, but having an ear to ear grin on your face....strictly for personal facial aesthetics.

The company maybe, but not me. It leads to wrinkles..

Holy moly.  I guess your company REALLY FROWNS on people getting speeding tickets.  :(

Wow, the report is already in. I think this has to be record time. My paralegal staff said there was no deep delving required, with many sources revealing some disturbing results.

I regret to inform you that I am unfortunately unable to represent you, at any price.

A background check??  Oh boy.  This isn't going to go well.

Well, you do know most defence lawyers charge more than most prosecutors, don't you?

Well this is kinda the same thing.

The only way I'm going to know what's the 'right' price for you, is to run a background check on you first, as I've never seen nor heard of you before.  I'll get my people onto it first thing in the morning.

I think its worth it.  I need severe help in my PR dept.  Everyone on Chess.com thinks I'm a big jerk!

    chess_kebabs

Well, for a small fee I can edit it and change it to a paid presentation. lol

    Mr_Tarkanian

Half way thru reading that, I thought you were referring to me.  You meant David, didn't you.

The following is NOT a paid presentation.

Yes, David is wonderful, and still very much missed on this site.

Maybe one day he might return? We can only live in hope. Some people are NOT replaceable. Well, you can park someone else's *** in their seat, but they don't necessarily fill the seat in the same way. Some people have a certain presence and humility that make them a joy to be around, professionally and non-professionally. I believe David is one of those people.

Hmmmm.  David's first writing was examining the word "biatch".

Ummmmm...David, everyone at Chess.com thinks your wonderful, but...have you completely lost your mind?  If you enjoy writing, then by all means, but....just don't go completely bat sh$# crazy, ok??  You rascal. :)
