My dad's movie star car!!!

my dad spent years restoring this car, a 1939 Hudson Coupe. Shortly after buying it, made enquiries to the '39 Hudson Owner's Club, and discovered this was the last of its kind... in the world!

ISTR he even rolled out those rear wings.

It was used in the filming of the movie Captain America, and came up for auction earlier this year http://www.historics.co.uk/previous-auctions/3rd-march-2011/1939-hudson-model-90-club-coupe.aspx

It was repainted in brown to tie in with the pre-war setting. Pictures were taken on the day the guy who had just bought it on Ebay came to pick it up

I've got the DVD (of course!) and have scanned through it, but haven't had the chance to watch it yet. Doesn't really seem like my kind of film. There are only a couple of 'street scenes' in the movie, the rest seems to be in some kind of army bunker.

I have seen the car in the movie, but it doesn't look to me like it features prominently, in fact, you'd need a sharp eye to spot it, most of those old cars look pretty much the same to me.

It was a pile of rusty metal when he got it about 14 years ago, restoring it as a spare time hobby rather than a dedicated restoration project. When he finally finished it, i was surprised that he sold it straight away, didn't run it on the road at all. The massive V8 (think it was 6.2 litres, or as the Americans would call 3.75 cubic inches) engine would probably cost a bomb to run.

What a beautiful car Graham.  He must have spent a lot of time and effort restoring it to its former glory.  It must have ben a wrench when he had to let it go.  Have you seen the film yet? does it feature prominently in it?
