Was just going over some old games, and was excited to post some of them here on Chess.com for others enjoyment. This is an extremely messy game that just seemed to get more complicated with every move. I had Bisguier analyze it, and he was left scratching his head more than once. Enjoy!
I agree entirely on 16...Rxa2. I actually said the same thing in my variations. You can only see the variations if you open up the "move list" box. There you'll see I suggested Rxa2 also.
Yeah, 19...Bxd3! does look much stronger than my boring Rg8. I think I was mentally tired at this point and didn't feel like looking at all the potential counter play white was going to get off of the discovered check.
And yes, I also analyzed Rg2 in my variations (move list), but didn't go as deep as you.
Thanks for all the analysis. That was great :)
I think after 13.Nb5, I would try 13...axb5 14.gxf6 Nxd3+ and 15...gxf6, threatening 16...Rxa2. Black has to attack White's queen-side fast.
After 16.Re1, why not just 16...Rxa2 and try to play Qc4 later.
Instead of 19...Rg8, Black may be winning after 19...Bxd3! (threatening 20...Qxc2 mate), and if 20.Nc5+ (20.Nxf8+ Be4), then 20...Be7 should hold.
White had a good threat after 20.Nc7+ (instead of 20.Nxf8) Qxc7 21.Qxf5, threatening 22.Qxe4.
Another idea, instead of 20...Rc8, perhaps 20...Rg2, threatening 21...Qxc2 mate. If 21.Re2, Rxe2 22.Qxe2 Kxf8 looks good for Black.
Instead of 22...Qb1+? (White will soon get out of check and in better position), perhaps 22...Kxf8 or 22...b3, then 23...Kxf8 or 23...Rxf8.
