Which phase of game do you like most?

Opening, middlegame, and endgame?

I love the endgames.  It's thrilling that at this phase of game, you or me is mated or not, and most of the pieces are gone in the endgame, so I must concentrate on how to mate my opponent with resting few pieces or how to prevent my being mated.

Deeper endgames I must concern how to promote my pawn and how to prevent my opponents promotion.  Once I got my pawn to a queen, I can grip the winning, but it's always difficult to promote a pawn into a queen.  Sometimes I must consider about stalemate.  Anyway, endgames of chess is a white-knuckle thing for me and it's exciting.

by looking at my rating you would think i have a good endgame; but everyone in king kenny's is  much better than i am. i lose most endgames! i just pray it doesn't go that far.

I like both the middle and end phase. But, I think one should open the game wisely.

I'm not a very strong player but I think, to be a fairly good player you should like all phases. Which is difficult to do; I agree to the previous poster Elona. But you can avoid predictability if you play "unusual" moves early in the opening. They may be a little subobtimal by absolute (GM) standards, but the opponent will be surprised. He was prepared for all the book moves but not for that one... Laughing

Up to certain strength levels, if you have a bad game, you can still hope to save it if you get into a "playable" ending. Some players are much worse in the endgame than in the middlegame, inexperienced, don't know typical/simple endgame principles... It is the phase to eventually turn a loss into a draw.

My least favourite are openings. I find them so predictable and just want to jump to the action.
