Quite a few have been asking whats wrong and why I've been in and out of hospital this past week (and next week)

For those who don't know, I was taken into hospital Monday just gone, but was home the same day. I was also admitted to hospital again yesterday with severe stomach pain

I'm home now, but not for long.

I guess now I need to explain whats happened in the past a little more.

Earlier this year, I went to see my doctor as I had incredible pain between my ribs at the top. My doctor thought it was logical at the time that I had an ulcer - and likely caused by stress.

It was NOT work related.  It was, if it is an ulcer, caused when I lost my mom, then Jon's dad, then lost out on a house we were supposed to move into 48 hours before the move, then later did find another house and moved.

The doctor then said he wanted to eliminate whether it was gall stones or not. I went for a scan earlier in the year, they confirmed yes I have gall stones.

On Monday when I was rushed into hospital, the specialist/surgeon immediately suspected it was the gall stones. But when I went in yesterday, another surgeon said he wanted to run further tests on my blood to check for pancreatitis (sp). They kept me on an intravenous saline drip as they said i was dehydrated, and a pain relief drip.

This morning when the doctors came to see me, they said they wanted to check with what they call a 'Magic Eye'  (camera that goes in via the throat to check stomach issues), but weren't able to do this on a weekend, so I'd have to wait till Monday.

If it turns out the ulcer is fine (if in fact there is an ulcer), they'll remove the gall bladder

If the ulcer is the issue, they'll do what needs to be done to heal that

They don't want to remove a healthy gall bladder if it turns out to be an ulcer causing the pain.

So either way, I'm still none the wiser on whats happening and whats causing all the pain.

As its the weekend, they can't do any surgery or procedures, so rather than me just using up their hospital bed and waiting all weekend, i asked them if i could come home. They agreed, but i have to go back into hospital Monday morning 7.30am.

It would have been nice if between the three consultants they could have decided what needs doing, and done it yesterday instead of just filling me full of meds, but then I guess they need to be sure of what they're doing incase of mistakes or prolonged issues if they get it wrong.

I will try and get some work done over the weekend if i can, I'm not the kind of person who can sit around doing nothing, I seriously hate being bored or idle even if I am un-well.

Its just frustrating not knowing whats happening, whats definitely causing this and when its going to be fixed Frown

As an update now its been a few weeks ..

I'd like to thank you all again for all the kind and thoughtful messages you've sent me and posted on here. I'm really touched, thank you.

Stitches are now all out. The larger of the 4 wounds got infected, but with antibiotics is now healing nicely.

Still taking me a little while to work as many hours as I did before all this happened, but thats improving :)

Apetite is still virtually non existent, but I think thats mainly down to all the meds the hospital filled me with. That will improve in time.

Its so good to not be in pain, or have to keep taking meds all the time.

It really makes me appreciate good health.

Yes I know i'm repeating myself here but thank you all so very much for the wishes and prayers.

    You rock!

Its been a week now since I came home from hospital.

I've removed the dressings on the 4 wounds.

I think one was for the camera, two were for cutting tools and one was for gall bladder removal.

Three of the four wounds are healing nicely.  The larger one where they removed the gall bladder is still very tender. Thats right on my belly button so painful when sitting a while then standing up, or stretching.

** warning, gross coming up **

To be honest, i've never seen the end results of someone having this done so didn't know what to expect, but to me, the only way i can describe it is that they sewed all around my belly button then just pulled the stitch tight gathering all the skin around it in Frown  (like a draw string).

My husband, while sympathetic, remarked "well you said you wanted a tummy tuck" !!

    Thank you Smile

I'm still feeling some pain, but its nothing in comparison to what i was feeling before the operation.

Still hurts to laugh or cough, sneeze etc .. but with each day, it does get easier.

Thank you all for your kind words and support.
