Músicas Brasileiras/ Brazilian musics

Ai foxnunes! Ai estão algumas musicas das quais curto... mpb's por sinal... haha. Não sei quais vc prefere... mas essas além de terem um otimo ritmo, possuem um vasto significado.

Well, for those who aren't brazilians, I'll just post a few of our musics in order to not hold anything back. And in this case I'll post the ones I prefer; from a band called "Legião Urbana" (Urban Legion).

Anyway, if there are any doubts, just tell me because some of these lyrics are mine and others I found on internet.

Geração Coca-Cola(Brazilian PT)

Coke Generation

When we were born we have been programmed
To receive what you all
Pushed into us together with the canned food
From the USA, from nine to six.

Since when we were kids we eat garbage
Commercial and industrial
But now it's our turn
We will spit back the garbage on top of you

We are the children of the revolution
We are bourgeois without religion
We are the nation's future
Coke Generation

After 20 years in the school
It isn’t difficult to learn
Every cheat of your dirty game
It shouldn’t be like this

Let's do our homework
And then you'll see
Your children dropping kings
Doing comedy in the movies with your laws

We are the children of the revolution
We are bourgeois without religion
We are the nation's future
Coke Generation

Que país é esse?!

What kind of country is this?!

In the favelas, in the Senate
There's mess everywhere
No one respects our Constituition
But everybody believes in the progress of our nation(?)

What kind of country is this?
What kind of country is this?
What kind of country is this?

In the Amazon river , Araguaia
Baixada Fluminense
Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais,
and in the Northeast, everything's in peace
I'll rest when my death comes
But the bloodshed goes on and on
Staining papers, truthfull documents
To bosses and kingpins' relieve, I say:
What kind of country is this?
What kind of country is this?
What kind of country is this?
This 3th world thing, if it's just abroad mocking, let it alone
But Brazil will become rich
We'll earn thousands in money
when we sell the souls of all our indians
in a auction
What kind of country is this?
What kind of country is this?
What kind of country is this?

Será?!

IS IT(?)

Take your hands off me
I don't belong to you
Isn't dominating me like this
That you'll understand me
I may be alone
But i really know where i am
You may even doubt
I don't think this is love

Is it only imagination?
Will nothing happen?
Is all of this in vain?
Will we be able to win?
Ow Ow Oooooooowww

We'll lose ourselves between monsters
Of our own creation?
Whole nights will be
Maybe for being afraid of the darkness
We'll be awake
Imagining some solution
To make this selfishness
Do not break our heart

Why fight?
If it's unintentionally
Who would protect us?
Will we have to
Answer
For the most mistakes
You and I?

And now one of my favorites... I mean, by this singer.

Pra não dizer que não falei das flores...

Before singing, Geraldo, the singer, says the following words:

"Hey, do you know what I think of? I think... only one more thing: Antonio Carlos de Ouvinte and Chico Buarque de Holanda deserve surely our respect... *Crowd* (boo)

Our function is making songs; and the function of judging, in this instant, up to the examiners... *Crowd* (boo) ... Please... there's only once thing again, for those... for those who keep thinking who is supporting me hooting... PEOPLE, PEOPLE, please! Okay, look, there's just ONLY a thing... Life isn't made only of festivals and parties" ...

So that no one says I never sung of flowers

Walking ahead and singing
Following the verses of the melody
We all are equal,
United or not,
In the schools and streets
In the fields or building stations
We are walking ahead and singing
Following the verses of the melody

Come on, let's go away
Because it's not wise to be waiting for
The wise does not let the chance pass by
He never waits for it to come(2x)

Along the fields there is hunger
Even with abundant plantations
And in the streets,
Streams of doubtful people
Who still take a flower
As the strongest symbol of their convictions
People who still believe that
Flowers can put down the rage of guns

Come on, let's go away
Because it's not wise to be waiting for
The wise does not let the chance pass by
He never waits for it to come

We see armed soldiers
Some of them were ever loved, others were not
Most are equally lost
Holding a gun in hand
In the headquarters, they are taught of
That old pretty lesson
"To die for the sake of the Land"
But to go on without an opinion

Come on, let's go away
Because it's not wise to be waiting for
The wise does not let the chance pass by
He never waits for it to come

In the schools and streets
In the fields or buildind stations
We all are like soldiers
Holding guns or not
Walking ahead and singing
Following the verses of the melody
We all are equal
United or not

Our convictions now rest in our minds
The flowers were shot down
There is alone the faith in the coming future
And a page of the history to be written
Walking ahead and singing
Following the verses of the melody
Learning and teaching
Always a new lesson

Come on, let's go away
Because it's not wise to be waiting for
The wise does not let the chance pass by
He never waits for it to come

I love the older music of Brazil.  Jobim, Bonfa, and Gilberto to name a few.
